Biographical details

Pierre Chabard is an architect who graduated in 1998 from the Paris-Belleville School of Architecture. He holds a D.E.A. in ‘Architectural and Urban Design’ (2000) and defended his doctoral thesis in March 2008 (Exposing the City: Patrick Geddes and the Town Planning Movement, Th: University of Paris VIII, 2008, 2 vols., 763 pp.). A senior lecturer in the history of architecture since 2004, he has been teaching at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Paris-la Villette since 2012. Since October 2019, he has been the editorial director of Éditions de la Villette.

Publications

Since the late 1990s, Pierre Chabard has been working as an architectural critic in various capacities. As a contributor to the Archilab exhibition in Orléans, he helped to write the catalogues for the first four editions (1999–2002). An occasional contributor to several architecture journals (L’architecture d’aujourd’hui, AMC, d’A, A+, Cahiers du Mnam, etc.), he served on the editorial board of the journal Le Visiteur between 2001 and 2003, before co-founding Criticat (2007–2018).
