Cross-disciplinary teaching - trip 2
Learning objectives
The cross-disciplinary week is designed to bring together the lessons learned from design and construction. It is structured around a trip to November and a series of analyses of housing project references.
– 2022: trip to Basel with O. Chaslin and S.Bourlis’s group
– 2023: trip to Milan with E.Veit’s group
– 2023: trip to Barcelona with E.Veit’s group
The aim is to encourage the articulation between analysis and project, and to consider architectural objects both as constructed objects, situated in time and urban space, and as perceived and experienced spaces.
Content
The preparation of the trip and the organization of the visits are structured around a cross-cutting reference analysis exercise. The corpus of references corresponds to a dozen multi-family housing projects chosen from the trip area. It is determined collectively, before the start of the school year in October. It can cover the whole of the 20th and 21st centuries, to enable a comparative analysis of the different city/architecture relationships, construction methods, lifestyles and layouts of buildings and housing. The approach is twofold:
– An architectural and urban analysis, supervised in a project group,
– A constructive analysis, supervised in a construction TD, by Franck Gaubin and François Paccard (from the STA field)
Transversality is organized in 3 stages:
– Before: documentary research, followed by constructive and architectural analysis
– During: trip during the week of November 14, 2024 (from 13th to 18th), to visit operations
– After: finalization of analyses in the construction TD.
