Conference open to all, in English and video, organized by Brent Patterson as part of the HMU Master’s seminar “Territories of political ecology”.
This presentation will explore the complex and concrete realities of participatory research and design in precarious and neo-colonial contexts, examining how systems of power shape participation. It will offer a reflection on the tensions involved in implementing community-led approaches, while highlighting the joys, solidarities and unexpected connections that are forged along the way. Drawing on an intersectional perspective, the presentation will interrogate how designers can move beyond theory to implement more equitable, accountable and truly collaborative processes.
