Position and responsibilities

Job title: Architecture intern

Internship dates: from summer/autumn 2026 (4 to 6 months), full-time (35 hours per week – 9am to 5pm)

Venue: Senate Administration – Paris 6th arrondissement – Department of Architecture, Heritage and Gardens

Main responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the architects and the head architect in charge of the division, the intern’s main responsibilities will be to assist the project management team:

– producing graphic materials (plans, 3D renderings, axonometric projections and perspective drawings) for projects; – collating heritage plans and carrying out historical research; – producing plans or perspective drawings for other departments within the directorate, in particular the gardens and furniture departments

Current projects on which the intern is likely to work:

– preparation of projects for 2027, including the refurbishment of the circulation areas in the Palais du Luxembourg, as well as the glazed airlocks and joinery; – studies in preparation for the summer 2026 works under the Senate’s 2026 Maintenance and Works Programme (PEDT); – master plans for the offices in the Palais du Luxembourg and its outbuildings; – etc.

Desired profile

Architecture or interior design student in their 4th or 5th year.
Required skills:
– excellent command of computer-aided design software: AutoCAD or equivalent (AutoCAD presentations, importing XREF files, layer management); – excellent command of imaging software: Rhino 3D, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, or equivalent; – good command of office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

La Direction de l’Architecture, du Patrimoine et des Jardins (DAPJ) est chargée de l’entretien, de la maintenance et de la rénovation du patrimoine immobilier et mobilier du Sénat.

Le patrimoine immobilier comprend le Palais du Luxembourg et ses dépendances, soit une vingtaine de bâtiments d’une superficie totale d’environ 120 000 m², dont les plus importants datent des XVIe et XVIIe siècles, et le Jardin du Luxembourg, d’une superficie de 23 hectares.

The property portfolio comprises the Palais du Luxembourg and its outbuildings – some twenty buildings with a total floor area of approximately 120,000 m², the most significant of which date from the 16th and 17th centuries – and the Jardin du Luxembourg, covering an area of 23 hectares.

To carry out its remit, the Department of Architecture, Heritage and Gardens has a staff of 160 people, comprising civil servants and contract staff, divided into four divisions: the Project Management, Administration and Finance Division; the Architecture, Heritage, Operations and Maintenance Division; the Furnishings Division; and the Gardens Division.

The placement involves participating in the activities of the ‘project management’ unit within the Architecture, Heritage, Operations and Maintenance Division, which comprises six architects and is responsible for heritage and architectural renovation and restoration projects at the Palais du Luxembourg and its outbuildings.
