Board of Directors (BOD)

The Board expresses its views on the general affairs of the school, and in particular on :

  • the draft multi-year contract, which sets out the school’s performance objectives and strategy in terms of training, research and human resources planning;
  • the budget, its modifications and the financial account ;
  • draft agreements relating to the coordination of training provision and research strategy;
  • teaching programs, applications for accreditation and authorization to award national diplomas or titles;
  • real estate strategy ;
  • study rules and regulations
  • donations and bequests ;
  • pricing policy for services offered by the establishment.

The ENSA Paris-la Villette Board of Directors is made up of 25 members, elected for :

  • 4 years: seven teachers and four ATSs (term runs until October 10, 2026)
  • 2 years: four students (term runs until October 10, 2026)

The six qualified external members are appointed by the Board of Directors on the recommendation of the Director of the establishment, for a four-year term.
Four external members are appointed by right.

Pedagogical and Scientific Council (CPS)

The Pedagogical and Scientific Council is responsible for discussing the school’s strategic orientations in terms of training, student life and research.

It is convened in a formation restricted to tenured staff representing teaching and research staff (CPS restreint), to examine individual questions and to exercise all other powers provided for by the regulatory provisions governing the rights and obligations of said staff, without prejudice to the powers of the Conseil national des enseignants-chercheurs des écoles d’architecture (CNECEA). It gives its opinion, within the framework of regulatory service obligations, on individual allocations between teaching and research departments.

The CPS comprises a Commission des formations et de la vie étudiante (CFVE) and a Commission de la recherche (CR). It brings together the members of these two commissions. Each of these regulatory commissions comprises 20 members, bringing the total number of members of the full SPC to 40.
The SPC is chaired by the President of the CFVE, or, where applicable, by the Vice-President, President of the CR.

- Training and Student Life Commission (CFVE)

The CFVE prepares and proposes measures relating to :

  • the organization of training programs and the evaluation of teaching ;
  • conditions of admission and orientation of students, methods of assessment and validation of studies, professional experience or personal achievements for access to architectural studies;
  • monitoring student success, further studies and professional integration;
  • cultural, sporting, social and community activities offered to students;
  • welcoming and helping students with disabilities or disabling health conditions to succeed;
  • raising public awareness of architecture and disseminating architectural culture and issues, led by students or teachers.

The CFVE of ENSA Paris-la Villette is made up of 20 members, elected for :

  • 4 years: twelve teachers and two ATS (mandate until December 7, 2026)
  • 2 years: six students (term runs until December 7, 2026)

- Research Commission (CR)

The Commission de la Recherche (CR) is responsible for formulating opinions and proposals on all issues relating to the direction and organization of research and the promotion of its results. It prepares and proposes measures relating to: 

  • organization and evaluation of research units ;
  • better distribution of teaching and research services;
  • the link between research and training ;
  • developing activities to disseminate scientific, technical and industrial culture.

The CR of ENSA Paris-la Villette is composed of 20 members, elected for :

  • 4 years: twelve teacher-researchers (mandate until January 10, 2027)
  • 2 years: two doctoral students (mandate until January 10, 2027)

The six outside personalities are appointed by the Board of Directors for a four-year term.

Social Committee of Administration (CSA)

The law of August 6, 2019 on the transformation of the civil service has reorganized employee representative bodies, notably by merging the technical committees (CT) and health, safety and working conditions committees (CHSCT) into a single body, the social committee, with a view to the general renewal of civil service bodies at the December 2022 professional elections.

From January 2023, the Social Committee will be responsible for examining collective labor issues at the level at which it is set up.

The local social administration committee is consulted and issues opinions on :

  • issues relating to the collective organization of work ;
  • questions and draft texts concerning the organization and operation of departments;
  • department guidelines and resources ;
  • the main lines of compensation policy ;
  • forward-looking management of staff, jobs and skills (GPEEC).

 

A specialized committee on health, safety and working conditions must be set up within the CSA. Its remit is as follows: 

  • work organization (pace, difficulty of tasks) ;
  • physical working environment (temperature, lighting, ventilation, noise, dust, vibration) ;
  • adapting workstations to suit employees ;
  • workplace design and maintenance ;
  • working hours (night work, shift work) ;
  • new technologies and their impact on working conditions.

 

The CSA of ENSA Paris-la Villette is composed of 6 representatives of Sud Culture Solidaires, elected for 4 years (mandate until December 8, 2026):
