• Building information modeling (BIM) designer in science and technology for architecture

The program is open to holders of a general baccalaureate, a technological baccalaureate (STI2D and STL series) or a vocational baccalaureate for candidates with an excellent track record.

Selection is made via Parcoursup on the basis of an analysis of the applicant’s academic record and a motivational interview.

In conjunction with CESI’s CFA, CESFA, the student signs an apprenticeship contract covering tuition fees and remuneration.

The program lasts three years, with a total of 1,799 hours and 180 ECTS. Work-study placements are offered throughout the program, and represent 72 ECTS (12 ECTS per semester), or 40% of the program’s ECTS.

To complete the course, a compulsory international mobility period of four weeks or more is included.

Schooling is organized around courses at ENSAPLV and the CESI engineering school in Nanterre, alternating with the company.

Classes of 25 learners are trained.

The teaching content is designed to train professionals at the crossroads of architecture, engineering and construction. Apprentices have the ability to pose and solve complex problems in an effective and innovative way. Equipped with a scientific foundation – the basics of numerical and mathematical tools – their highly operational profile makes them an asset with solid practical skills.

The technological context in which these future project managers evolve enables them to integrate and master all the tools available on the market, enabling them to develop digital models applied to the construction industry. What’s more, the cross-disciplinary skills they acquire during their training give them a real grasp of the legal and financial aspects involved in supporting the company’s transformation.

In the company, the apprentice organizes and manages projects, making the most of his or her many cross-disciplinary skills, particularly his or her ability to work as part of a team. They take part in every stage of the project, from the formalization of the client’s requirements, to the choice of solutions and suppliers, right through to project closure.

Finally, thanks to their autonomy and curiosity, they acquire the reflex of regularly updating their personal knowledge of digital architecture, so as to be able to adapt to a changing, complex context, with an international outlook.

Agencies and companies in the sector that are already using or starting to implement a BIM process have identified a need for BIM coordinators.
These profiles are capable of communicating and interacting with the various players involved in the BIM model: architect, design office, builder, controller, client, project owner.
Under the supervision of a BIM manager, who retains overall responsibility, they must demonstrate autonomy, but not total autonomy. Their technical expertise enables them to guarantee the integrity and consistency of models for the various players involved, and to master the various BIM model databases and ensure their interoperability.

Passage to the next year is conditional upon validation of the required UEs and credits.

At the end of the course, the diploma is awarded on condition that all credits have been acquired or validated, on the basis of continuous assessment.

Successful completion of the course leads to the award of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Designer diploma.
This qualification confers the grade de licence, an international benchmark and a prerequisite for further study at engineering school or master’s level.
