Pro-Paille training alternates theory and practical exercises to learn how to design and build in accordance with the professional rules for straw-bale construction (RPCP 2012). Drawn up by the Réseau Français de Construction en Paille (RFCP), these standards define the design and implementation rules to be applied when using straw as an insulating filling and plaster base. The RPCP 2012 constitute the official and normative framework applicable in France.
Successful completion of the final exam leads to the issue of the Pro-Paille certificate of competence “Respecting CP 2012 professional rules characterizing
straw material as structural insulation and plaster support”. This certificate entitles designers (architects, engineering consultants) and contractors involved in the construction of straw buildings to be covered by their insurers as “standard techniques”.

Training objectives
- Understand straw bale material, its characteristics and limitations;
- Know the regulatory context applicable to straw construction;
- Learn to use and master the professional rules of straw construction;
- Discover and practice the main straw building techniques;
- Plastering with straw;
- Draw up a quality control sheet for straw processing.
