Habilitation à l’exercice de la maîtrise d’œuvre en son nom propre (HMONP) is a training program that enables candidates to follow a career path leading them to assume the responsibilities of the architect as the author of his or her architectural project.
Objectives
HMONP training is designed to prepare architects to assume their responsibilities as project managers, by acquiring or deepening their legal and technical knowledge of the architectural profession on the one hand, and of project management and construction regulations on the other.
The training combines a minimum 6-month work placement (MSP) in a structure involved in architectural, urban or landscape project management, with a course of study. The training is supervised by the school of architecture and the host organization.
In continuity with initial training, the course aims to maintain a level of openness and critical reflection on professional practice, and to put the teaching provided into perspective with regard to experience gained in the host structure.
State-certified architects who obtain this accreditation at the end of their training are authorized to use the title and practice the profession of architect maître d’œuvre (registered with the regional Order).
HMONP training is open automatically to holders of a DEA (Diplôme d’État d’architecte) or equivalent diploma, either within one year of obtaining the diploma, or after a period of professional activity that may give entitlement to recognition of professional or personal achievements.
Online pre-registration is compulsory for all non-ENSAPLV students, i.e. all students who have obtained their DEA (Diplôme d’État d’architecte) from a school of architecture other than ENSAPLV. Pre-registration constitutes a waiting list for final registration.
No additional documents are required for pre-registration; simply fill out the online form linked below once.
Online pre-registration will be open from 9:00 a.m. on July 1, 2026, through 5:00 p.m. on July 2, 2026:

Any ADE or architect holding an equivalent diploma issued by an architectural training establishment (ENSA, ESA, INSAA or European equivalent), and whose diploma was obtained at least 24 months previously, may apply to enroll in the training program via the validation of acquired experience (VAE) procedure.
Candidates must have atleast 36 months’ full-time equivalent professional experience in architectural, urban or landscape project management (accumulated at the time of application for VAE, excluding undergraduate or master’s internships), 12 months of which must have been continuous in the same host structure.
The length of time required is assessed on the date the VAE application is submitted.
Application submissions open on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Deadline for submitting applications: Friday, May 15, 2026, by midnight
Date of the HMONP VAE committee meeting: Tuesday, June 9, 2026
After the HMONP committee reviews the application, the candidate may be exempted from:
- of the “mise en situation professionnelle” (MSP) ;
- of part of the theoretical courses, with no possibility of total exemption.
The system adopted by ENSAPLV is made up of two 10-day teaching periods devoted to thematic sessions and problem-based case studies (totaling 150 hours of teaching), which form the framework for the work placement period (MSP).
This scheme enables ADEs who wish to do so to carry out their MSP in any region of France or abroad, in line with one of ENSAPLV’s specific features – its international outlook.
