All Aboard: Apply for the Travel Program for Young Architects

“Immediate Departure” is a travel program that enables young architects to gain valuable experience through travel by setting out to discover different ways of thinking about cities and regions and to examine, on the ground, the state of the European landscape in light of contemporary challenges and the environmental, economic, political, cultural, and social transitions underway in Europe.

The call for applications is organized by the Quartus Endowment Fund for Architecture, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, the Atelier Parisien d’Urbanisme, the AREP Group, and MAF, and is co-organized with ENSA Paris-Est on behalf of the network of French National Schools of Architecture.

Who can board?

Young architects, urban planners, and landscape architects—whether researchers or practitioners—who graduated less than 10 years ago from a French national school of architecture and are 35 years old or younger as of January 1, 2026 (HMONP not required).
Each of the 10 trips can be undertaken alone or in pairs; the pairs may consist of a “lead” architect and a second architect, or a young practitioner or researcher working in another discipline.

10 Trips in 2027

Architects, urban planners, and landscape architects—whether researchers or practitioners—under the age of 35 are invited to propose a travel project centered on a specific issue, a destination, and a final presentation, with the aim of examining the architectural, urban, or landscape conditions of the European continent. A selection committee will choose 30 finalist projects from among the submissions, and a panel of experts will select 10 winners, who will receive financial support and curatorial guidance.
  

1 exhibition in 2028

In a second phase, an exhibition at the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine will be organized in the spring of 2028 to share with the general public these critical and forward-looking perspectives on the challenges of shaping our cities, landscapes, and European territories. Bringing together travel narratives as part of a collective presentation, this exhibition will offer a broader reflection on the importance of the initiatory journey in architectural practice through numerous unique and iconic accounts—both past and present—that have long shaped the history of architecture.

  • FAIRE 2026

    Deadline for project submissions: September 6, 2026

    The Pavillon de l’Arsenal is launching the 2026 edition of its FAIRE call for projects, dedicated to design and urban innovation, architectural and landscape design, aimed at anyone who wishes to invent new ways of shaping the city in the Greater Paris area.

    This call for projects aims to encourage young creators and recently established organizations by awarding grants to eight winners, including one student prize.

  • Créart'UP 2026-2027

    Application deadline: 01/07/2026

    Run by the Maison étudiante de la Ville de Paris, Créart’UP provides annual support for students and recent graduates (less than two years old) from Paris and the Île-de-France region wishing to develop an artistic or cultural project and gain professional experience in the arts and culture sector.

    Eligible fields are: music, theater, dance, visual arts, audiovisual, design, fashion, performance, digital cultural projects, and more broadly all innovative artistic and cultural projects.

  • Jacques Rougerie Foundation International Architecture and Innovation Competition 2026 - Académie des beaux-arts

    Application deadline: 24/09/2026

    Each year, this competition rewards architects, designers, engineers, artists and urban planners from all over the world who imagine bold and disruptive current or future architectural projects focusing on submersible land, sea and space, in order to build tomorrow’s new sustainable living environments at national and international level.

    The competition is free and open to students and professionals from all over the world.
      

  • New teaching module in S10: Introduction to the diversity of professional practices and the architectural professions

    The new syllabus for the Master’s program, to be introduced at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, introduces the “Student Pathway” teaching unit. The aim of this change is to better support students in the development of their career plans, taking into account the diversity of architectural practices and professional fields.

    On February 24, 2026, the first of four sessions dedicated to the professionalization of S10 students took place, conceived by teachers Élise Macaire and Minna Nordström.

    Future graduates had the opportunity to exchange views with ENSAPLV alumni from a variety of backgrounds, and discover the diversity of architectural professions.
