A round-table discussion is organized on the occasion of the publication of “Du voyage de formation au voyage professionnel de l’architecte en France et en Europe (XVIIIe-XXe siècles)”, edited by Antonio Brucculeri, Marilena Kourniati and Massimiliano Savorra.
Moderated by Pieter Uyttenhove, curator of the Academy of Architecture, this meeting will bring together :
- Barry Bergdoll, Columbia University, New York
- Jean-Philippe Garric, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
- Rachel Lauthelier-Mourier, École pratique des hautes études, Paris
- Éléonore Marantz, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Through their observations of the book and their own work, the contributors will examine the many issues involved in the architect’s journey, which the book sees as an instrument of training, investigation, documentation, the circulation of models and the construction of knowledge, between the 18th and 20th centuries.
The book is the result of the re-elaboration of contributions presented at the international study days : The architect’s travels. From training trips to professional travel in France and Europe held at the Académie d’architecture and the École nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-laVillette, from June 1 to 3, 2023.
It has been published with the support of the AHTTEP research unit at ENSA Paris-la Villette, the French Ministry of Culture and the Académie d’architecture.
