The Ciné-forum is a forum for interdisciplinary researchers and film-makers to exchange views on neighborhoods in resistance.
The LAA research team is organizing a screening-debate in the presence of writer-director Catalina Villar on the film “Les Cahiers de Medellin” (1998).
Synopsis
Medellin, the all-too-famous “Cartel City”. Unprecedented violence: the misery of peasants driven off their land by guerrilla warfare, overcrowding, unemployment…
The first victims of this violence are children and teenagers. Survival means clinging to a few spaces of peace: women, schools and churches. In a school run by a surprising teacher, teenagers try to build a few points of reference by writing the stories of their violated lives in their “notebooks”.
Millerdad and Sandra, Maria-Eugenia and Doralba, Juan-Carlos and Camilo tell of the tenderness of mothers, the absence of fathers, the fight for survival and, above all, of childhood and the desire to live.

The event is open to all, but is particularly aimed at master’s and post-master’s students, PhD students and members of research teams.
