TAP Project #3/9: Artificial Intelligence in Architecture

These two themed days dedicated to artificial intelligence in architecture are organized by ENSA Grenoble – UGA, in partnership with the MIAI AI Cluster (Multidisciplinary Institute for Artificial Intelligence) at the University of Grenoble Alpes and the national research program on Cultural and Creative Industries (PEPR ICCARE) as part of the TAP* project.
They aim to bring together faculty members and practitioners in architecture and landscape architecture to discuss the changes and transformations accompanying the development of artificial intelligence technologies, with a view to exploring frugal and critical practices and approaches to the co-design of these systems.
The goal is to share the major challenges associated with the development of these technologies, to examine how public authorities are addressing these developments, and to assess the transformations, emerging practices, and scientific and experimental work. The goal of these meetings is to identify best practices within the profession, in higher education, and in research.
How can we prepare future architects and landscape architects for digital transformations by ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills, so that each can act with awareness and take an active role in their technical environment? We will discuss the effects on architectural practices and professions, on architectural education and new pedagogical approaches, as well as the role of these technologies in architectural research.
Four key areas will be explored: public and scientific support policies; changes in the architecture profession; changes in pedagogy and education; and architectural research.
These presentations and discussions will be complemented by three participatory workshops aimed at collaboratively defining the skills to be taught, opportunities for architectural practice, and changes in teaching practices.
*The TAP project, winner of the “Skills and Professions of the Future” call for proposals, aims to transform architecture and landscape architecture training programs over the 2025–2030 period in order to address the challenges of the digital and ecological transitions. Led by a consortium of higher education institutions and professional organizations, the TAP project is a true collaborative effort dedicated to transforming professions in the built environment and urban planning sectors.
ENSA Paris-la Villette is a member of the TAP project consortium.
